Julie Andrews - Le Jazz Hot

Julie Andrews at her best.

Totally hot story of Jazz from Victor/Victoria

Julie Andrews has become an institution among American moviegoers.

I remember seeing Julie Andrews in Mary Poppins as a child and I was always moved by her clean and sultry style. She has moved movie-goers for decades with a style that transcends every role she has ever engaged in. I loved this movie because of all of the nuances of a woman, pretending to be a man, pretending to be a woman. Of course the moral of the story is to be yourself. I suppose that is also the lesson of life.

In every movie I ever watched her perform in, Julie was able to transplant me from where I was to where she happened to be. If that was fantasy, drama or comedy, it mattered not for it was always entertaining. As I listen to the music to this tune while I write this article, I cannot help but tap my foot and find my fingers typing in time with the bass guitar.

My name is Bob Cristello and I am known nationally as TweetClean. I know, odd name but it somehow just stuck. I have recently learned that my klout score is 46 and that makes me a specialist in several fields. I run a technology news magazine and I have written other Hubs, my two favorites being The Circle of Reciprocity and For the want of a tweet. My personal favorite hub is called The Day I Met Coretta Scott King and I share it with my family and friends every year. Every monday on twitter they run a music monday festival and people share their music and video. I find this exercise totally fascinating and I found it appropriate that I was watching and listening to this clip.

As I watch this clip over and over, I just love the way the entire song goes from low key, to snappy and upbeat until the ending is just a crescendo of music, dance and of course the voice of that amazing Julie Andrews layered above it all. I found it fascinating that her life also took this same course.

Always slated for clean and bright wholesome roles, Miss Andrews struggled through her career to be allowed to grow beyond the roles she was assigned. In her later years, as misfortune took her and she had a scare because of a problem with her throat, she never strayed from her course. She took on serious, dramatic roles, roles that others might question but she never did. Victor/Victoria was not only a professional success but it secured her own abilities in her own mind and allowed her to finally grow into the type of performer she always dreamed she would be.

As an aside, this is Robert Preston's swan song in many ways. I truly loved his character in this film and the unconditional love that his character and Miss Andrew's character had towards each other. All in all, a great movie and a great clip. I hope you enjoy it and I look forward to your comments.
